Switch Gear Division
The Unit which is one of the Manufacturing Division of ALIND was established in the Year 1969 at Mannar in Alappuzha District of Kerala, India and commercial operations of the Unit effected from 1970-71. The initial range of products covered Minimum Oil Circuit Breakers from 2.2 kV upto 72.5kV, Outdoor Oil filled Current Transformers 33kV to 110kV in collaboration with M/s. Delle Alsthom, France. Subsequently indoor Metal-clad Switchgear with Minimum Oil Circuit Breakers was added to the product range in 1974-75. An active collaboration was entered into with M/s. Alsthom Atlantique, France for the manufacture of 145 & 245kV Outdoor Porcelainclad SF6 Circuit Breakers.
After having established a good customer base with various State Electricity Boards in India, Indoor Metalclad Switchgear with VCBs 2.2kV to 12kV and Outdoor 25kV Single Pole Vacuum Circuit Breakers was commenced in 1984 in collaboration with M/s. Meidensha Corporation, Japan. ALIND Switchgear Division is the first RDSO approved Part-I Regular supplier of 25kV Single Pole/2x25 kV Double Pole Vacuum lnterruptors and Circuit Breakers to Indian Railways and this tactical advantage continuing. Substantial numbers of these equipments are in service all over the electrified sections of Indian Railways and the performance has been well appreciated by the Railways.
Over the period of years, large numbers of equipments of Minimum Oil (2.2kV to 72.5kV), Vacuum (2.2kV to 52kV Class), SF6 (110kV to 245kV) types have been supplied to various Electricity Boards all over India/Abroad and Public Sector Undertakings like National Thermal Power Corporation, Indian Railways, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation India LTD (DFCCIL), Metro Railways, Central Power Research Institute (CPRI), Power Stations, Coal Fields, Petrochemical Plants, Industries etc.. The reliability rating of equipment supplied by ALIND has been very good and they have successfully withstood the severe service conditions.
Having imbibed the technology from the Collaborators, the Switchgear Division has ventured out on its own and developed several new products INHOUSE.
In general, the Division is well equipped to cater to the requirements of the Power Sector in India with products whose quality rating is very well established and accepted by the market.
The substantial emphasis being envisaged for the POWER SECTOR in India will put the Division in an advantageous position in the future scenario also.
